Organising the perfect romantic Valentine's gift for her this year is a little different. This Valentine’s Day, why not have a romance movie marathon with your partner? Romantic movies are great stay-at-home date idea. There is something so reassuring about watching other couples explore their romances and provide hope for the possibilities of your own.

Almost synonymous with words like 'pure romance' and 'true love', The Notebook brought to life the popular book of the same name. Telling the story of the beautiful relationship between Noah and Allison played by Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, the movie jumps between different parts of their relationship, set as early as the 1940s. Expect to have a good cry!

Another story based on a wonderful book, this 2017 film is the modern day coming-of-age tale that is both beautiful and heartbreaking. Call Me By Your Name depicts the unlikely relationship between Elio and Oliver, during a whirlwind summer romance. The cinematography is as stunning as the magnificent actors portraying the lead characters.

A cult classic, Pretty Woman is possibly Julia Roberts' most famous role, where she plays a young prostitute named Vivian who falls in love with a businessman portrayed by Richard Gere. Too many iconic scenes to mention, this is a great movie to watch if you love a good underdog story and a fairytale ending.

A WALK TO REMEMBER (2002)

When this film came out in 2002 it was a favourite amongst Mandy Moore fans around the world, who loved her transition from pop sensation to the actress. Set in North Carolina, A Walk to Remember follows a disengaged jock played by Shane West, and his relationship with a shy, preacher's daughter, played by Mandy Moore. The story is a tear jerker but beautiful to watch unfold.

ABOUT TIME (2013)

If you're looking for a romantic comedy that is fun, lighthearted and touching, About Time is the perfect film for your quiet night in. With the ability to rewind the clock and replay past events, Tim (portrayed by Domhnall Gleeson) woos Mary (played by Rachel McAdams) and experiences the trials and tribulations of his special time bending gift. It's quirky, fun and heartwarming, and great for a girls' night in.

BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN (2005)

A western style film set in the 1960s, this famous movie won multiple awards and is considered a stunning depiction of forbidden love. Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal play cowboys who, despite being married to women waiting for them at home, fall in love during a summer together in the mountains of Wyoming. Beautifully shot and perfectly performed, this classic is a must-see.

DIRTY DANCING (1987)

Still played in movie theatres to this day, there isn't a film quite so iconic as Dirty Dancing, with the ever handsome late Patrick Swayze. Between the famous songs, fabulous dance moves and superb cast, this movie will make Valentine's Day as cosy and comfortable as ever.

FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL (1994)

The meeting of the gorgeous Andy MacDowell and the ever-charming Hugh Grant is always going to make for a fabulous movie, but Four Weddings and a Funeral is a particularly fun film, released in 1994 to rave reviews. Possibly the definition of a British romantic comedy, watching Charles and Carrie fall in love, as well as witnessing a few weddings and a funeral along the way, is a lovely treat for a night in.

Before Heath Ledger was The Joker, he played Patrick, the brooding, apathetic high school student, caught up in the pursuit of teenage affection, an ill-fated scheme, and the tensions between two very different sisters. Another film with an excellent soundtrack and an even better cast, 10 Things I Hate About You is a fun, playful trip down memory lane.

Also considered a Christmas movie, Love Actually follows several characters from all walks of life, as they find love, heartache and try to get through traumatic life changes. With an outstanding cast including Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman and Chiwetel Ejiofor, watching this funny, playful film is a fantastic way to lift your spirits this Valentine's Day.

Although a tragic tale, Titanic is one of those epic masterpieces that you've probably already seen 100 times. The soundtrack alone makes it worth re-watching and seeing Leonardo Dicaprio and Kate Winslet fall in love against all odds makes for a truly beautiful viewing experience.
